It’s depressing. The future is so scary. I can’t imagine being totally paralyzed. I keep trying to reenact it – just lay there, and think, ‘I can’t get up.’ But I can’t do it for very long. It freaks me out. | | Maggie Voisin gets big air during the Toyota U.S. Grand Prix. (Matthew Stockman/Getty Images) | | | | “It’s depressing. The future is so scary. | rantnrave:// Did you see the non-fight in the NBA Tuesday night? ARRON AFFLALO threw a right hook and missed. Classic sports bout. Hockey has the real thing, but it might also be on the way out. They drop gloves and go at it. It's legit. The NFL is so violent that fighting seems unnecessary. But fighting in the NBA and MLB is like an art form. There are rhythms to it. The posturing. The missed punches (notice how they hardly ever connect?). Closer to WEST SIDE STORY than boxing. The ROCKETS storming the CLIPPERS' locker room Monday night had the INSIDE THE NBA crew cracking up. There have been real fights in the NBA but ever since the MALICE AT THE PALACE there's way too much disincentive to really do it. It's for the best and everyone knows that. So watching a bunch of "Hold me back" is good fodder. MLB isn't any different. Remember A-ROD and JETER standing on the sidelines? They got heat for it but it was more for breaking kayfabe. Let's lighten up and enjoy the fake fights... JEFF PASSAN's column on MLB's slow offseason is a must-read. If you thought this was a cold hot stove because of team groupthink [raises hand], the issue runs much deeper. MLB's entire financial system is at risk. Passan started looking out for possible collusion and found himself asking "is baseball’s economic system, its underpinning, broken?"... Sentencing for LARRY NASSAR began Tuesday and more than two dozen victims gave impact statements. It was a jarring day in court. We're still only learning about Nassar's crimes. It's a lengthy and ugly story that deserves a spotlight. It implicates USA GYMNASTICS and MICHIGAN STATE. Coincidentally, there weren't any officials from Michigan State in that courtroom. Wonder why?... Preach CHRISSY... KERI POTTS deserves all the attention she's getting. One of the best people I've come across in media... DEREK JETER has done a lot to muff up his MARLINS reign already. This might be treasonous... COOL RUNNINGS 2... RIP JOJO WHITE. | | - Mike Vorkunov, curator |

Bill Belichick’s father, Steve, literally wrote the book on football scouting. So with notes and folders duly prepared, I set up in the press box in Foxboro on Saturday and analyzed--or tried to, at least--Patriots-Titans through Steve’s eyes. The attempt taught me plenty about the Belichick family’s genius for football.

Where ESPN editorial and talent once dismissed Potts as an advocate, they increasingly have leaned on her to help with the language they should use when they report news of sexual violence and sexual harassment. Announcers regularly call her to discuss how to address sexual assault storylines that arise in a given game. News anchors send countless emails to Potts, checking language on sensitive stories.
