Those typical NBA fights where they go 'Let me at 'em. Let me at 'em.' I would've kicked his ass. Somebody hold me back. The NBA fights are the silliest, namby pambiest thing I've ever seen in my life. Except there was that one in the stands a few years ago. That one got ugly. But nobody wants those fights. Even the players don't want those fights.

rantnrave:// I think baseball can be slow and it can be boring at times and can feel stodgy. I don't think baseball has a pace of play problem. MLB commissioner ROB MANFRED disagrees. He's trying to ram through modifications to speed up baseball games and he's so enthusiastic about it that he might do it unilaterally without the players' consent. Pace of play is so important to MLB that it risks angering the players' union to do it. Should we, as fans, care about animus between labor and ownership? Not really. But it does show the lengths that MLB will go to for something that may not be that important and that the union vigorously opposes. Manfred wants to install 20-second pitch clocks and reduce mound visits. OK. How much time does that save? Will the game move too fast? I'm no institutionalist but baseball should preserve its quirks and differentiating factors. A ball or a strike penalty for exceeding the time limit is a harsh penalty. MLB execs aren't alone in thinking the game has a problem with watchability, but would shaving a few minutes help? There are dominant problems, like the current polarization of the sport to home runs and strikeouts. Fewer balls in play means less action means more dead time. That's a bigger issue than the length between pitches. Would interest in baseball decrease more because of longer games or limited player movement in the offseason? Baseball has problems. I've never thought that turning the TV off 15 minutes sooner was one of them... Painkillers have long been a necessary evil in sports but recently players have pushed to use marijuana instead. But are leagues like the NFL and NBA ready to embrace cannabis? A look at sports’ brewing drug debate. SportsSET: "How Should Athletes Dull the Pain?"... Did you know that BILL BELICHICK and NICK SABAN are BFFs? They are. JENNY VRENTAS' story detailing their long friendship is so good to read, even if you don't like the PATRIOTS or ALABAMA.
