| rantnrave:// What now? Where does sports go from here? Are athletes and coaches willing to make their workplace a political battlefield? Are owners and leagues comfortable with that? Was this weekend a blip -- a set of unique circumstances pushing sports to a place only a few athletes have ever wanted to go? This is what everyone in sports has to figure out. It was the NBA's turn Monday to talk about PRESIDENT TRUMP. One day after the NFL took a knee, stars across the league shared their criticism. LEBRON JAMES called him a "bum" again and rebutted Trump's attempt to use sports as a divisive force. SPURS coach GREGG POPOVICH continued his year-long campaign against the president. Will this become routine? Will NBA players use their platform to wade further into the political discussion? Have they said enough to this point? Will NFL players be emboldened by the publicity they received? Will the owners, who had been reticent to use football as politics, continue to give players the green light? It was harder for players to kneel and protest when they had to worry about their careers like KAEPERNICK -- this weekend made it alright. If owners don't keep backing them, will they continue to protest? President Trump isn't backing off. Will the NFL?... DORIS BURKE, full-time NBA in-game analyst. About time. Burke has been one of the best NBA voices for a while. Why did it take so long to get her off the sideline and into the booth? Will this start a wave of women analysts? SARAH KUSTOK will do it full-time for the NETS. STEPHANIE READY has been doing it for the HORNETS. Game broadcasts need more diverse voices and different perspectives and fewer ex-players spewing cliches... Two more home runs for AARON JUDGE. That's 50 for the season. A rookie record. More than MARK MCGWIRE. One of the best rookie seasons ever. Hard to believe he hit .179 last season. I wonder what his ceiling is. Are Judge and GIANCARLO STANTON going to chase 60 home runs every season from here on out? SportsSET: "The New King of Dingers"... You can't stop PETER SAGAN. You can only hope to contain him. Could he win a WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP on PEE WEE's bike?... Sometimes the metaphors seem a bit much. Even for the LIONS... MIKE GUNDY is more hipster than BROOKLYN... Should've gone with foods that start with the letter Q. | | - Mike Vorkunov, curator |

| He saw Stephen Curry turn down an invitation to the White House, and he saw LeBron James tweet that Trump was a bum, and he vented on Instagram himself, and then he wondered: Why not baseball, too? | |

It shouldn't be news that strikeouts have increased at a pretty alarming pace over the last decade. From the end of the last strike through 2007, the league-wide strikeout rate was pretty steady, averaging 16.7%. That is, roughly one in every six plate appearances ended in a strikeout. | |
