rantnrave:// Hard to make a counter-argument against extended netting at MLB stadiums after you read this story by the NEW YORK TIMES' BILLY WITZ. He talks to the dad of the one-year-old girl struck by a batted ball at YANKEE STADIUM last month. She's recovering from several facial fractures and still has an imprint of the baseball on her forehead. Horrific. The YANKEES finally agreed to add netting for the 2018 season that will extend at least the length of the dugouts. Half of MLB teams are still holding out. Why haven't the rest committed? Safety vs. visibility. What's more important: fans at risk of getting hit by foul balls that could be coming in at 100 mph or more, or fans complaining about an obstructed view? Should it be a question at all?... Great story by DON VAN NATTA and SETH WICKERSHAM capturing the debate amongst NFL owners while they tried to figure out a response to mass anthem protests. One of their ideas: get the players to stop by trading in protests for a "Team America" uniform patch. Wonder if this would've been the logo. NFL could've gone with another motto: Blame CANADA... Bribe or good-faith offer?... LYNX. SPARKS. Game 5. Wednesday night. One game to crown a champ after a dominant Game 4 win by MINNESOTA while facing elimination. LA couldn't close it out on their home court. Are we going to see a repeat? Sound familiar? Is this gonna be deja vu?... The reviews of AMAZON's NFL debut are in. Rough start, strong finish. The NFL UK stream is a winner. How it compares to TWITTER's audience last season... The NFL is a myth-maker. Stories of the STEELERS’ dynasty, AARON RODGERS and BRETT FAVRE under center in GREEN BAY, and ODELL BECKHAM JR.’s famous catch have helped turned the league into a giant. Hear about its stars and their scars in their own words. SportsSET: "4th & Inches: Amazing Oral Histories From the NFL"... THE JUICE is loose... Do millennials like your sport?...
