rantnrave:// The nights when hype becomes reality are special. Take Friday night for the US MENS NATIONAL TEAM and CHRISTIAN PULISIC. A 4-0 win over PANAMA puts them in good position to secure a 2018 WORLD CUP spot. Pulisic had everybody buzzing. He's only 19 and even if he's getting steady time for BORUSSIA DORTMUND, seeing him do it in a USMNT uniform was something different for US soccer fans. USMNT has had prodigies before and it's had players with legit EUROPEAN careers. Has it ever had anyone like Pulisic? LANDON DONOVAN and CLINT DEMPSEY had their time in the EPL but Pulisic's ceiling might be higher than either one. Can he become the world-class star the USMNT has hoped for? Is he ready now to lead its attack? SportsSET: "I Saw US Soccer Future and Its Name Is Christian Pulisic"... Who gets to use the national anthem as protest? Players have used anthem protests to condemn racial inequality and police violence. VICE PRESIDENT PENCE used the anthem to send a message that their protests are not welcome. A political stunt? 49ers safety ERIC REID called it "systemic oppression." What do we call COWBOYS owner JERRY JONES telling players they won't play if they "disrespect the flag?" Does that include kneeling? What did it mean when the Cowboys and Jones kneeled two weeks ago? Other teams might be instituting their own rules. Were the owners making empty gestures when they joined their teams last month? NFL players and owners are in a battle over the meaning of the anthem and flag. Will either blink?... LIGHTNING winger J.T. BROWN raised a fist... The best PEYTON MANNING stories you've never heard... All playoff baseball games should be a minimum of 12 innings. But no longer than four hours... "When you are talking about Ishiguro, you are talking about a special, special talent. You are talking a once-in-a-generation talent, OK?"... WASHINGTON HUSKIES football coach CHRIS PETERSEN vs. ESPN... For sale: a 2016 CUBS WORLD SERIES ring... WESTERN MICHIGAN 71, BUFFALO 68 -- in football... Make some noise... This touchdown celebration is a home run... OJ SIMPSON tries out BUMBLE... RIP CONNIE HAWKINS.
