Hoth or Bills-Colts in Buffalo?

rantnrave:// ALAN TRAMMELL and JACK MORRIS elected into the BASEBALL HALL OF FAME. 1984 TIGERS get their shine. One deserves it. What took so long? The other, ummm. MARVIN MILLER didn't get in. Again. Doesn't make sense. The case for Miller is strong. He negotiated MLB's first collective bargaining agreement. Got them arbitration rights. Helped bring free agency to the sport. The winter meetings are about to start as teams get ready to spend hundreds of millions of dollars. The most prominent out-of-season promotion for baseball. Wouldn't be the same without Miller. Harder to make a case to keep him out. Few have made a larger contribution. Can be mystifying if you care about baseball. The Hall of Fame isn't perfect but it should get this right. Can't tell MLB's story without Miller. He helped make baseball's players union the strongest in sports. That probably didn't help him with voters. Sportswriters have a tendency to be anti-labor. Don't know the tendencies of the Modern Era voters because their ballots are kept private. Hall voters got it wrong when he was on the ballot. Miller got a second chance and they got it wrong again... So there was one one team that didn't try to sign SHOHEI OHTANI. Still don't get it. Maybe he'll be a star with the ANGELS. Maybe he won't. Hopefully he'll at least help get MIKE TROUT into the playoffs. We'll get to separate man from myth... Was watching EAGLES-RAMS and enjoying CARSON WENTZ. Damn, he's good. Fun to see a game that wasn't sloppy or ruined by bad QBs. Almost comical how much the game has changed in the last decade. Eagles lined up in shotgun with three wide at the one-yard line. Shotgun used to be reserved for desperate passing downs. The HALL OF FAME QB calling the game doesn't even make this list. Wentz threw four TD passes in LA and has 33 this year. Started reading this, then Wentz got hurt. May be out for the year. Another star down. The NFL is doing fine, why do you ask?... RUTH and GEHRIG. MARIS and MANTLE. STANTON and JUDGE? Too soon? DEREK JETER wyd? He traded the NL MVP and brought a CASTRO to MIAMI. Gave NEW YORK one more gift basket. MLB wanted to give Jeter a team so bad, did it care what he did with it?... OKLAHOMA QB BAKER MAYFIELD, HEISMAN TROPY winner. Not bad for a freshman walk-on at TEXAS TECH... Who's gonna stop MAN CITY?... Wanted: Rams fans... JOB was a METS fan... I've seen this commercial a billion times. I still chuckle.

The International Olympic Committee's window-dressing decision to suspend Russia doesn't really touch the "state" part of "state-sponsored" doping. Oh, a few Russian crested blazers will have to skip the little cakes with white diamond fondant icing at the dessert buffet. No matter.

Forget About Colin Kaepernick; I Think I’m Done With the NFL Just Because I Don’t Want to Watch Someone Die
by Damon Young
That Colin Kaepernick is very obviously being blackballed just isn’t enough for me to go cold turkey. Because, to be frank, the NFL has been guilty of much, much, much, much worse and I’ve managed to turn enough of a blind eye to that shit to continue watching. Comparatively speaking, Kaepernick is, well, small potatoes. But I think I might be done now.

No-trade clause allowed Stanton to get deal he wanted, not what was best for Marlins

Call it Jeffrey Loria’s parting gift. The trade of Giancarlo Stanton from the Miami Marlins to the New York Yankees might be prudent and it might even work in the long run. But that’s also an excuse for frugality, and losing.
