rantnrave:// Wonder if MARLINS fans ever feel like it's GROUNDHOG DAY? Instead of RITA HANSON, they just want good ownership. No more fire sales. Maybe keep a star every once in a while. Broke up the '97 team. MIGUEL CABRERA traded. GIANCARLO STANTON auctioned off to the YANKEES. Finally got rid of JEFFREY LORIA and then DEREK JETER does this. Why does this keep happening in MIAMI? What role does commissioner ROB MANFRED and MLB have in preventing a team from withering under a hapless owner? The DODGERS were so tortured under FRANK MCCOURT the team was basically repoed and he was forced to sell. The METS have spent like a middle market team since the MADOFF Ponzi scheme was cracked, but MLB hasn't interfered even as the WILPONS have sold off minority shares and took a $40 million loan. CLAY BENNETT bought the SONICS to move them to OKLAHOMA CITY. DONALD STERLING was forced to sell the CLIPPERS but only after decades of losing and mismanagement. PETER KARMANOS sold the HURRICANES this month -- after he was sued by his sons for $105 million they say he took from a trust as collateral for the team. What responsibility do leagues have to ensure competent owners? Can commissioners monitor the owners if they are also beholden to them? Maybe this owner will be the charm for the Marlins. There's a reasonable argument for trading Stanton, though it would involve spending the money the team saved. That doesn't look likely. Jeter and principal owner BRUCE SHERMAN are already looking for new investors. Will this circle ever end?... There may be worse things in life than playing for the MARLINS but the Marlins can't think of any... The JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS are good. Feels weird to say that. And BLAKE BORTLES is still there. Best case scenario: 2000 RAVENS or 2015 BRONCOS redux. Worst case scenario: Any team that's ever had to start a Bortles-like QB in the playoffs. Examples: JAKE DELHOMME, BRIAN HOYER... It was only a matter of time until the #METOO movement hit sports media. It's popped up everywhere else. Distressing allegations of widespread sexual harassment and assault at NFL NETWORK. The reckoning is here and there's no tolerance for assault. And there shouldn't be... Don't trade ERIK KARLSSON... How do you say "father of the year" in LITHUANIAN?... NCAA investigating GOD for giving gifts to athletes... Stay away from our soccer scarves, Big Fashion.
