I’ve been called a man because I appear outwardly strong. It has been said that that I use drugs. (No, I have always had far too much integrity to behave dishonestly in order to gain an advantage.) It’s been said I don’t belong in women’s sports – that I belong in men’s – because I look stronger than many other women do. (No, I just work hard and I was born with this badass body and proud of it.) We don’t all look the same. We are curvy, strong, muscular, tall, small, just to name a few, and all the same: we are women and proud.

Morgan William and the shot that slayed a giant.

Friday - December 29, 2017 Fri - 12/29/17
rantnrave:// There was no singular moment of 2017. The year was an accumulation of disparate moments coming together to provide one of the most glorious and trying years in memory. HOUSTON had a dizzying few months as it recovered from HURRICANE HARVEY and watched as the ASTROS won the WORLD SERIES. A year after a bountiful year at the OLYMPICS, USA GYMNASTICS had to contend with the fact that it had harbored a monstrous doctor who preyed on more than one hundred young women and girls. SERGIO GARCIA is no longer the best golfer never to win a major title. LOUISVILLE fired RICK PITINO as college basketball was engulfed by scandal and an FBI investigation. The WILLIAMS sisters provided uplifting moments all year long. It was a trying year but dammit we got through it.

Sergio Garcia finally breaks through at the Masters

How much should a successful man change? Garcia has been one of the best players of his generation and a Ryder Cup star. He loves his life. He plays tennis. He travels the world. He makes goofy jokes. But he had not done what he knew he could do. He had not won major championships like the great Spanish golfers Ballesteros and Olazabal had, and of course that bothered him.
