Developer’s View | | Java 10 Is Here The worldwide Java community is eager for more frequent updates, starting…now! Java 10 is here, with improvements in memory, performance, and programming models.
Java is the runtime for 12 million developers—and that’s a great responsibility. As Bernard Traversat, Oracle vice president for software development, explained in his talk at Oracle Code Los Angeles, “At the scale of Java and JVM deployment, it’s incredibly important that we spend all the necessary resources to ensure that the platform is secure.” A new OpenJDK vulnerability group is tackling Java security with members from Red Hat, IBM,Twitter, Amazon, Azul, and SAP.
Also exciting is seeing the evolution of Java Enterprise Edition. The Eclipse Foundation recently announced a new name, thanks to the votes of around 7,000 people: Say hello to Jakarta EE.
