| On balance, Monday wasn’t the best of days for LSU athletics. The news on quarterback Jayden Daniels, who left the Alabama game Saturday to enter concussion protocol, was … incomplete. Coach Brian Kelly said it will be at least a couple of days before the Tigers have any indication whether Daniels will be able to play this Saturday against Florida (6:30 p.m., SEC Network). And the LSU women’s basketball team suffered a sobering 92-78 season-opening loss to Colorado out in Las Vegas, a defeat which will bring an end to the Tigers’ preseason No. 1 ranking swifter than you can say Taylor Swift. It was just the third season-opening loss of Kim Mulkey’s career (including a one-point defeat by LSU in 2004) and definitely the most lopsided. On the home front, though, the LSU men’s team got off to a strong start with a 106-60 victory over Mississippi Valley State in the PMAC. And it was quite a debut for 7-foot center Will Baker, who had 29 points and five rebounds. We also have a photo gallery from the game. Back to football, where Kelly admitted the Tigers probably should have tried using a spy (namely linebacker Harold Perkins) on Alabama quarterback Jalen “Four Touchdowns Rushing” Milroe. You think? We also have kickoff and TV network information for LSU's penultimate (that means second to last if my brother is reading this) home game Nov. 18 against Georgia State. And they couldn’t stop me, so I wrote a column from Monday’s news conference about what Kelly said and didn’t say. He didn’t say he was firing defensive coordinator Matt House (in case you’re wondering) but he did say a lot about the traits the Tigers need to learn/are learning to be an elite team and program going forward.
