What a day. Jazz Fest gets underway. The PGA golf tournament starts on the West Bank. And later tonight is the NFL draft. Whew! Here’s a couple fest takes to nibble on: Sure, the Rolling Stones are the big act at this year’s fest. But, music guy Keith Spera tells us, the fest is much more than just the Stones. Meanwhile, our resident foodie Ian McNulty writes about some of those classic fest dishes, as well as some of the lesser-known (but still delicious!) food acts out at the Fair Grounds. Bring an appetite.
Archdiocese search: State Police investigators served the Archdiocese of New Orleans with a search warrant this morning for records related to the church’s clergy abuse crisis. Stephanie Riegel is following this story.
If not for public records: As bills to restrict the state’s public records laws make their way through the Legislature, Andrea Gallo looks at some of the cover-ups that were exposed through searches of government records. And, she notes, it’s not just reporters asking for access.
