Jeff Landry aide worked for Blue Cross beneficiary

BY JESSICA WILLIAMS | Capitol News Bureau Editor

Landry and Pennington: The chief of staff for Gov. Jeff Landry is a former lobbyist for Pennington Biomedical Research Center, the institute the governor has singled out to get potentially millions of research dollars under the controversial proposed sale of Blue Cross Blue Shield of Louisiana, Tyler Bridges reports.

No food aid: Louisiana won't accept federal dollars to feed poor families over the summer, the state Department of Children and Family Services said — an announcement that drew swift criticism over the weekend, James Finn reports.

Teacher stipends: Landry is preserving about $198 million in the state budget that funded teacher stipends last year, but the exact amount teachers could see could vary, his budget team clarified Friday. Meghan Friedmann has the updated story.
