In a ceremony hastened by one day due to expected bad weather, Jeff Landry was inaugurated as the 57th governor of Louisiana on Sunday. In a 25-minute address on the steps of the State Capitol, Landry — a Republican taking office after eight years under Democrat John Bel Edwards — promised collaboration and saluted the spirit of the Louisiana people. The Saints pulled off an impressive 48-17 drubbing of the hated Falcons, but any hopes of winning the NFC South were snuffed out by the Buccaneers 9-0 defeat of the Panthers. And a wild card birth was taken off the table thanks to the Packers and Seahawks later that afternoon. It all capped off a disappointing up-and-down season, albeit a winning one at 9-8. It appears Smith wasn't happy with the Saints final play, which was a freelance call by the players.
