Jeff Landry preps for transition to governor

BY JESSICA WILLIAMS | Capitol News Bureau Editor

Landry transition: Attorney General Jeff Landry has tapped a group of business owners and GOP donors to help lead his transition to the Governor's Mansion, James Finn reports. Fourteen panels will meet over the coming weeks to advise the governor-elect on a host of issues.

Johnson on abortion: Newly minted House Speaker Mike Johnson of Benton made his name by reducing abortion access in Louisiana. But he says he won't touch the issue as speaker, and will instead leave abortion access questions to the states, Mark Ballard reports.

Disaster aid: U.S. Reps. Troy Carter and Garret Graves filed a bill this week to extend a rule that allows more disaster victims to receive federal aid, Ballard reports. Without the extended rule, other federal policies would prevent many victims from getting assistance.
