Jeff Landry pushes for criminal justice shakeup

Landry on crime: Gov. Jeff Landry has ordered state lawmakers to Baton Rouge to consider a dramatic overhaul of the state's criminal justice system, James Finn reports. Here's what he wants them to do.

Redistricting maps: A federal judge has ordered that Louisiana redraw its legislative maps, siding with Black voters who said the current district boundaries don't give them a fair shot at electing lawmakers they choose, Meghan Friedmann reports.

Teacher stipends: A $2,000 pay boost for public school teachers would be extended another year under a budget Landry presented to the state Legislature, Tyler Bridges and Meghan Friedmann report. The budget also includes funding for a new Louisiana State Police troop in New Orleans.
