Drone sightings over nuclear power plant concern Gov. Jeff Landry

Entergy confirmed Friday that drones were seen over the company's River Bend Station nuclear power plant in West Feliciana Parish in early January. Gov. Jeff Landry wants federal officials to give Louisiana the authority to down similar suspicious drones.

The governor believes he has the legal authority to have State Police or other law enforcement agencies take down a drone "if I believe it’s a danger to the public."

But Federal Aviation Administration authorization would help avoid a legal battle and problems stemming from ambiguity in the law, he said.

Amid an ongoing set of conflicts over the Livingston Parish library system, the Parish Council has stepped in and purged the library board in one fell swoop.
