Jeff Landry taps former Trump official as LDEQ chief

Landry taps LDEQ chief: Gov.-elect Jeff Landry has tapped former U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Director Aurelia Skipwith Giacometto to head Louisiana's Department of Environmental Quality, James Finn reports.

JBE redistricting: Gov. John Bel Edwards is mulling whether to force lawmakers to create a new congressional district map after an appeals court gave the state until Jan. 15 to do so, Tyler Bridges reports. Landry has said he will convene lawmakers, but Edwards says Landry may be too late.

Tangi sheriff: For the past 56 years, either an Edwards or a Layrisson has helmed the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Office. That will come to end next year after Daniel Edwards retires and a new sheriff steps in, Bridges reports.
