Valet shooting: A lot of people have been following stories about the fatal shooting of an Ace Hotel valet last weekend. Election day: Tomorrow's election day across the region. The big-ticket stuff in our area includes City Council and sheriff's races in New Orleans and the casino referendum in St. Tammany that has spawned a seemingly endless loop of TV commercials. You can find our politics coverage here, and our north shore coverage here. And do check NOLA.com Saturday night for the latest when the vote returns start coming in. Gothic Revival, and then gone: Finally, contributing writer-slash-history buff Mike Scott has another one from the "ain't there no more" collection: The ornate, 7-story building at Carondelet and Common streets that housed the offices of the English insurance conglomerate Liverpool, London and Globe.
