Just weeks after the state Legislature redrew its congressional maps to add a second majority-Black district, a federal judge has ruled that Louisiana’s state legislative maps also must be redrawn. U.S. District Chief Judge Shelly Dick wrote that the current maps do not give Black voters a fair opportunity to elect representatives of their choice.
