LAWYERS REPRIMANDED: As if Hurricane Ida didn’t inflict enough damage on Louisiana, a Houston-based law firm that filed thousands of insurance lawsuits in courts across the state has been sanctioned and ordered to pay back fees by a federal magistrate who found the firm sued on behalf of a Hammond woman who never hired it. Her attorney suspects the law firm used a similar strategy to sign up many clients, often without their knowledge.
