JIM ROGERS’ Worldview 20 Years Later

Jim Rogers, Michael Oliver and Quinton Hennigh return on this week’s show.

Behind the wheel of a sunburst-yellow, custom-built Mercedes, Jim and his fiancée, Paige Parker, began their “Millennium Adventure” from Iceland on January 1, 1999. They traveled through 116 countries, including many where most have rarely ventured, such as Saudi Arabia, Myanmar, Angola, Sudan, Congo, Colombia and East Timor. They drove through war zones, deserts, jungles, epidemics, and blizzards. They had many narrow escapes all of which are chronicled in Jim’s book published in 2003 “Adventure Capitalist – The ultimate Road Trip.” In the inside jacket of the book, Jim wrote, “While I have never patronized a prostitute, I know that one can learn more about a country from speaking to the madam of a brothel or a black marketeer than from meeting a foreign minister.”

By age 37, Jim had made a fortune as a partner with George Soros at the Quantum Fund. He was psychologically prepared for retirement at that stage of his life. He would have worked longer but suddenly chose to retire over a moral conflict with Soros. In subsequent years, Jim managed his own portfolio, taught at Columbia Univ. and was frequently seen on television shows. With his reputation intact and a desire to understand the world as it actually is as opposed to the propaganda imposed on us, we will seek Jim’s version of the world 20 years later and how he would suggest it be navigated.

Michael applies his momentum and structural analysis of key markets to help us know what to expect and Quinton will help us understand the economic potential of the Goliath Resources’ Golddigger gold and silver project in B.C.
