The Kospi index climbed 0.6% on Tuesday. China 'national team' buying of ETFs expands to new institutions; New players and more focused purchases suggest moves to calm volatility and boost domestic confidence
Emma Boyde - Financial Times
The past 12 months have been punishing for foreign exchange traded fund investors with exposure to China, but fresh signs of "national team" involvement might give risk-averse market participants pause for thought.
Z-Ben Advisors, a specialist research consultancy based in Shanghai, noted in a report released last month that institutional investors were continuing to increase their equity holdings via ETFs and that this activity was extending beyond the historical core China national team players.

2023 Recap - Cboe Index Charts on Performance, Skew and Premiums; Four Cboe Strategy Indices Rose More Than 38% in 2023
Matthew Moran - Cboe Global Markets
One of the most frequent questions I receive from customers is - what is the year-to-date performance of a specific Cboe index? While Cboe offers many dozens of strategy indices, and Cboe's BXMD(SM) Index rose 20%, and Cboe's PUT(SM) index rose 14% in 2023, the three Cboe strategy indices shown below all rose more than 38% in 2023.

2023: A year of firsts for the Singapore stock market
Tan Boon Gin, CEO - Singapore Exchange Regulation
When I was asked to contribute a commentary to mark the year-end, it was suggested to me that the topic should perhaps be along the lines of "A year of wins for shareholders". However, as I looked through my notes, speeches, the Regulator's Columns and other content Singapore Exchange Regulation (SGX RegCo) has published, it is clear to me that 2023 might be better described as a year of firsts.

Miscellaneous

Here's (Almost) Everything Wall Street Expects in 2024
Sam Potter - Bloomberg
If the consensus on Wall Street is often wrong — and evidence from 2023 does little to dispel that notion — then in the year ahead investors are facing either the mother of all rallies or a selloff for the ages.
That's because most investment outlooks from major banks, advisers and asset managers envisage the same middle-of-the-road scenario in 2024: They see interest rates finally starting to bite, a benign economic slowdown, and a central bank pivot to easier policies setting the stage for a late-year rebound. Stocks and bonds — which rallied strongly in the final weeks of 2023 — are mostly seen posting positive yet underwhelming gains.
