The Democratic campaign arm of the House of Representatives has revealed initial TV ad purchases totaling millions of dollars to promote Democratic candidates running against Republican challengers in November's midterm elections.
The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) has set aside $214 million for broadcast television commercials, far more than the $18 million it set aside in the 2020 election season. According to a news release from the DCCC, the acquisitions secure ad time in busy and expensive media markets.
The DCCC has set aside $7.7 million in ad time for the Las Vegas area, with $1.3 million dedicated to commercials in Spanish. Other focus media markets with significant acquisitions include Phoenix ($2.6 million), Minneapolis ($2 million), Philadelphia ($1.6 million), and Pittsburgh ($1.4 million). To keep their congressional majorities in the House and Senate, Democrats will have to fight an uphill battle. |
