Happy primary election day, Minnesota! Have you cast your vote? We’ll have a rundown about what’s changed this election along with the latest news after the weather.

Picture-perfect weather Tuesday, but storms are on the way. Enjoy the calm blue skies today, things will heat up Wednesday and we could be in for some sticky dew points and scattered thunderstorms by Thursday, with even more showers on tap for Friday. More on the Updraft weather blog.

The polls are open for Minnesota’s primary. While Minnesota experienced a surge in absentee and early voting ahead of Tuesday’s primary, plenty of folks are still casting their vote in person around the state. Election managers have been hard at work making sure the process is safe and sanitary, in addition to expanding alternate voting procedures, including curbside voting and drive-thru ballot drop-off to accommodate COVID-19 restrictions. Still haven’t gone out to vote? Here’s what to expect at your polling place. Not sure who’s on your ballot? Check out our voter guide. We’ll also be tracking the results live, though with mail-in ballots trickling in through Thursday, full results may not be available until later this week. Tune in at 9 p.m. tonight for special coverage!

If you have already voted, what was it like? In the midst of a pandemic, this election is unlike any other. Whether you voted absentee or in person, we want to know: What was the experience like this year? What questions or concerns do you have? Share with us to help inform our journalism.

The latest on COVID-19 in Minnesota: New case count shrinks, but it could be a statistical anomaly The state reported 332 more cases, significantly lower than the past few days and the lowest count in more than a month. Health Department data, however, showed new testing down dramatically from a few days ago, making it unlikely that the newest numbers indicate a change in the disease’s current course. And while current hospitalizations (337) and the number needing intensive care (147) remain far lower than their late-May peak, they’ve shown an upward swing the past few weeks — along with stubborn persistence. In addition to our newsletters, you can also get the latest on COVID-19 daily via the Minnesota Today podcast. Check it out, go vote, and be well!
