SAFETY TAX: Jefferson Parish Sheriff Joe Lopinto III plans to ask voters April 30 to increase property taxes by $28 million a year to raise employee pay by 15% to 20%. It would be the first tax increase for the Sheriff's Office since 1993. White denies wrongdoing and says she plans to continue at her job.
UNBOWED: Laurie White, a 15-year veteran judge of the Orleans Parish Criminal District Court, stands accused by a courthouse employee of making a sexual advance on the worker on more than one occasion, the accuser's attorney says.
