Hello Friend,

I’m emailing to share a unique opportunity for students passionate about free speech and civil liberties: the upcoming West Coast Regional Conference from the Foundation for Individual Rights in Education (FIRE).

The conference is a special one-day event offering you a crash course in your right to free expression. You’ll learn about the history of free speech in higher education and the forces at play in the current struggle against restrictive speech codes.

You’ll also work closely with FIRE staff to develop winning strategies for protecting freedom of expression at your school. You’ll also hear from Eugene Volokh, UCLA law professor, First Amendment Expert, and founder and writer for The Volokh Conspiracy.

On the day of the conference, attendees will be treated to three meals. FIRE will also pay a stipend of up to $150 for travel costs.

If you want to learn more about free speech in higher education and how to promote free speech and open inquiry on your campus, I encourage you to apply to attend.

Cheers,

Jaclyn Boudreau
