… live in London and via the livestream
Hello reader, When the veteran Labour MPs Margaret Hodge and Harriet Harman announced in December that they would not be running in the next general election, it marked the end of a political era. Between them, Margaret and Harriet have served in parliament for seven decades, and each has defined politics in distinctive ways, from Margaret beating Nick Griffin, the then-British National party leader, in the 2010 election, to Harriet being named the mother of the house – the title given to the female MP with the longest continuous service. I’m thrilled to speak to Margaret and Harriet on Monday 18 September, live at Conway Hall in London, and via the livestream. Join us, as we reflect on their political careers over four decades. It will be a memorable and celebratory evening, and I hope to see you there. Tickets are available here. Thanks, Katharine Viner Editor-in-chief, The Guardian |
