I made the transition from the production booth to the on-air studio with my heels lightly dug into that carpet. I worried about the very real possibility of dropping an accidental swear word or crying on air. I am a woman of a “certain age”, swearing and crying are my love languages.

Two weeks in the Afternoons chair while Michael Tetlow is away, and both of those concerns have been realised. It’s not a bad thing to wear your heart on your sleeve, as for the other business, we shall never speak of it again.

I asked Jonathan Beale for some tips on being professional and he refused, on account of my lack of it being fun to watch. It’s a wild ride and we seem to be having fun together, you and I.
