Eco-Leaders Spread the Love For the Planet!

Long time Grades of Green student Eco-Leader, Soren, made waves this month by visiting Ridwell’s waste sorting facility in Van Nuys, California. Throughout the past couple of weeks, Soren has been organizing a waste collection program at Crescenta Valley High School to mitigate recyclable waste from entering landfills. With support from the school and his friends, Soren was able to collect large bags of waste that were then delivered to Ridwell to recycle properly. Soren will be continuing his incredible passion for the environment by attending the MAD Symposium in Copenhagen where he will be the youngest participant tackling the intersection of food and sustainability.

RISE Up For a Sustainable Future

Through Grades of Green’s RISE Climate Solutions Campaign, students have been taking action across the globe on a variety of environmental projects to support their community. In preparation for Earth Month, students across the globe want to share how they are taking action towards a clean, sustainable environment for years to come.

Meet Our College Corps Fellow, Justyne!

Meet our College Corps Fellow, Justyne Arreola! Justyne is a fourth-year UCLA student majoring in psychology who is a passionate environmentalist and community service member. As a first-generation college student, she has always wanted to make a difference in her community. From organizing eco-events in high school to her current work at Grades of Green, she hopes to inspire students to take action and empower them to become our leaders of tomorrrow. Working with Grades of Green has given her the opportunity to strengthen her public speaking skills and deepen her commitment to environmental advocacy.

With a background in coaching, Justyne enjoys working with children and is considering a future in teaching or law. She believes in the power of education to inspire change and encourages students to be themselves and take care of the planet.
