Dr. Philip Barber is researching a complex condition: Vascular Cognitive Impairment (VCI). Currently, there’s no test to diagnose VCI, as its symptoms overlap with other conditions. But more than 45,000 people in Canada live with it.

Supported by Heart & Stroke donors, Dr. Barber is using cutting-edge technology like AI and MRI imaging to help detect and prevent VCI. So far, his team has made large strides towards this goal, but there is still work to be done.
