Hi John,
If you happen to be near Palo Alto, CA this weekend, please stop by the TinkerLab studio for free hands-on making on Saturday (November 13)1-5 pm.
I'm setting up as part of a collective open studios with 20 other artists-in-residence of Palo Alto's Cubberley Artist Studio Program, so not only can you tinker with me, you can enjoy tons of artsy festivities, a food truck, art giveaways, and more.
If I can avoid buying new while creating something beautiful from the old, that's a wonderful thing. In that spirit, I'll set up two upcycling projects, where we'll turn things like discarded books, cardboard, and bottle caps into something new. Both activities will be free.
1. Altered Book Sculptures: Bring an old paperback book or pick one up from the Friends of Palo Alto Library books sale (next door to the studio), and learn how to make an altered book sculpture. I'll provide the scissors and tape.
2. Ornament Inventions. You bring your imagination and I'll provide recyclables, glue, and scissors.

Hope to see you there.
Warmly,
Rachelle
