Again, our initial goal of 500 is less than 3% of the people who signed up for our mailing list (that's you!) and a tiny fraction of the 125,000+ visitors who read the magazine (paywall free!) every month.

Fun (?) fact: Did you know our volunteer editors receive over 4,000 submissions every year during our open submission periods and The Rumpus DOES NOT currently charge a reading fee? Many other literary magazines do, and we understand why! Adding a fee is not our 1st choice. We'd rather trust that those who can support us will, so that those who don't have the funds are still able to get their work read and (hopefully!) published.
