Join us for our next event featuring award-winning chef José Andrés. In addition to being an author, chef and restaurateur, Andrés is dedicated to making the world a better place through his World Central Kitchen, which uses the power of food to empower communities and strengthen economies.
For example, after Hurricane Maria devastated the island of Puerto Rico in the fall of 2017, the World Central Kitchen Relief Team served nearly 4 million meals to communities recovering from the storm. Purchasing all the produce directly from smallholder farmers, it gained tremendous insight into the needs of the community and determined the best way to support Puerto Rico was by helping small farmers. So, it created Plow to Plate, a grant program that provides funding, training, and networking opportunities to smallholder farmers and businesses that support local agriculture.
