MARCH EVENTS Sunday, March 3 New York, NY In honor of the 121st birthday of Molly Picon, an actress who burst onto the scene in the 1920s, the American Jewish Historical Society is hosting a live score and screening of one of her films, the silent classic “East and West.”
Picon is lauded for her role in the 1923 movie, which explores immigration, diaspora and identity — with a comedic twist.

More information here. Memorializing The Triangle Shirtwaist Fire March 16-17 New York, NY Join the Remember the Triangle Shirtwaist Fire Coalition in memorializing the 1911 industrial tragedy.
The public is invited to the Fashion Institute of Technology to work on an art installation in memory of the Triangle Shirtwaist Fire. Participants are asked to bring pieces of fabric to create a long ribbon, which will be draped outside the brown Asch Building, the site of the devastating incident that killed more than 100 young immigrants.
More information here. Sunday, March 17 New York, NY The Forward is pleased to co-present a screening of “The Brink,” a documentary exploring how former White House chief strategist Steve Bannon’s pushed the rise of white nationalism.
Following the film, shown at the Marlene Meyerson JCC in Manhattan, Forward writer-at-large Jane Eisner will moderate a Q&A with its director, Alison Klayman, who will share how following Bannon throughout the 2018 American midterm elections revealed his intentions to mobilize the far-right.
More information here. National Convening On Jewish Poverty The National Convening on Jewish Poverty aims to open a channel for discussion and education on poverty within the Jewish community, in hopes of finding a solution for the widespread issue.
Forward writer-at-large Jane Eisner will lead a seminar at the conference, based in San Francisco, focused on how Jewish poverty is portrayed in the media.
