| | | | Kids enjoy a day in the snow | Sledding into the New Year | The Joy House experienced our first snow days of 2017 the first week of January. The campus turned into a white, wintry wonderland. The resident boys and girls, house parents and their families all partook in the icy adventures. Even Ms. Robin, our teacher, took her turn sledding down one of our large hills. One of our resident boys, Mason, said that he “was completely thrilled” when he found out we might have a snow day as he “rarely has seen snow” in his life. Residents Bailey and Gabi both thought the most exciting part of the weekend was sledding, as they both had never sledded before. Everyone had a wonderful time and of course our residents are hoping to get another snow day or two in before the winter is over. | |

A key part of that campaign is our Girls Home project. We’ve experienced a growing need for placement of teen girls over the last 18 months. Read More Here... | |
| | counselor's corner - darren lane, Dir. of Res. Therapy | Trapped by Offense | Over the summer, I heard a twelve-year-old state that she was “offended” by something a young adult had said. Immediately, a couple of things came to mind. First, I realized that at twelve (in 1977), I had no idea what the word offense even meant. Another thing that I noticed was the behavior of the girl after the offense. Read More Here... | |
