It is always such an amazing feeling when people touch your life in a positive way. Mrs. Tina and Mrs. Tracie are two such people that bring so much joy and laughter to The Joy House girl's home. These women bring a variety of P.E. activities to the girls and teach fun new skills through these classes. We've got some quotes from the girls and their teachers with their thought on these classes. Eden: When I first heard we were doing P.E. I thought it was going to be a place to go get energy out every other week, but it is so much more. Mrs. Tina always greets us with a smile and is always happy to be spending time with us. I have learned to play pickleball and I got to play volleyball. I have learned a lot about these two games. I always look forward to P.E. and getting to spend time playing sports. Rose C.: My favorite part about having P.E. is that we get to try all different kinds of stuff. It always reminds me of all the sports memories I have, so it's always nice going to do something that brings you back to the good days! Jaylin: I like P.E. because it gets us out of class and it's very fun. I like all the fun games we play every time we go. I have so much fun. Jenna: One of the fun things we did at the Joy House is having our P.E. teacher Mrs. Tina come and do activities like volleyball, pickleball, and karaoke, though volleyball is my favorite. I especially like Mrs. Tina. She is such a bright, happy person willing to learn and encourage students around her. She always has something nice to say or to help her students when they are discouraged or upset. So... thank you Mrs. Tina. Jodi: I like P.E. a lot because I am able to express myself in healthy ways. PE encourages me to try new things I normally wouldn't. I truly love that I'm doing these fun things with the people I live with. I think it's cool to see how each one of us do things so differently. My favorite thing about P.E. is that I believe it brings us closer and if it doesn't at least it gets me out of school early. Mrs. Tina: My husband and I have been connected with the Joy House for a few years and it’s been so amazing to see how God has worked to change lives through this wonderful ministry. I wanted to become involved in some small way and felt that my background in coaching and love for sports would be a way to serve and connect with the girls. Through P.E., I have an opportunity to show the love of Christ and convey to the girls that they are valued and loved, all while they’re having fun and learning something new. Mr. Tracie: I'm excited about this opportunity to serve the girls in this capacity and to be used by the Lord to share the love of Christ |

We are delighted to share with you that we have hired new girl’s house parents to open a second home for girls. We want to welcome Chase and Veronica Allen along with their son Aiden, to The Joy House team. If you missed our news in previous months, we are temporarily opening our boy’s home to serve girls to meet a more immediate need. The Allens, along with the girls their serving, will move to our new girl’s home when construction is complete. At that time we will then reopen the boy's home to serve young men and their families. Executive Director, Steve Lowe had this to say regarding the Allens. “We are excited to welcome Chase and Veronica to our team. They are a young couple who have a demonstrated track record of loving Christ and teens. Our staff have enjoyed getting to know them and believe they will be a great fit on our team. We all appreciated the humble, teachable, approachable attitude that is part of who they are. We look forward to opening our second girl’s home under their care. We know our partners will give them a warm welcome to Jasper.” |

We were able to have an amazing luncheon with some of Cherokee County leaders and influencers where we shared a bit of our story and ate some delicious food. Here is the press release for the event. We hope you are able to see our passion for what we do at The Joy House and share in our vision for the future. Cherokee County residents may find it surprising that a Christian non-profit organization based out of Pickens County, GA is having such an impact on its southern neighbor, but it turns out The Joy House is doing just that. In an effort to better inform local Cherokee County influencers about the ministry’s reach, Steve Lowe, Executive Director of The Joy House, hosted a luncheon on January 21, 2022 at Local on North in Canton. |
