A Teen Residential Program and Community Counseling Center
Progress on our new girl’s home is entering its final stages. Interior trim is being installed and hardwood floors have been completed. The exterior is now painted and we should have some brick installed soon to bring a beautiful accent to this farm style home. We’re expecting construction will be completed in the next couple of months. We can’t wait to open our doors and hearts to all the young ladies lives which will be changed here!!!
It is always with mixed emotions that we announce another graduation from The Joy House. We are so excited for the next step in the residents life but at the same time we are going to miss all they have brought into our lives.

Rose has graduated. This young woman's smile can light up a room and her future looks just as bright. Friends and family gathered this week to listen to The Joy House staff talk about different aspects of the growth journey Rose is on .

Darren, our Director of Therapy said "Rose, I liked you from the start! You were opinionated, strong and real. Truth is always preferred and you are always truthful. We are here to celebrate the changes you have made and to celebrate who you are now."

Her house parents shared many cute and funny stories about life in the girl's home with Rose. Seth started his talk with "What is there NOT to say about Rose, so much good to say about her."

Everyone that spoke had so many encouraging and uplifting things to share about Roses journey. She is outgoing, personable, a hard and quick worker, kind, compassionate with a quick and ready laugh and smile .

We are so thankful for Rose and her parents choosing to let us walk along side them for this season in Roses journey and we are looking forward to see what God has planned for her future.
After seeing how God has faithfully been at work through the Joy House for the good of countless families and teens, I felt inspired to become more involved in this life-changing ministry.  For the past ten months I’ve had the privilege of getting to know and interact with the girls by providing a variety recreational activities.  During these last several months the girls have been introduced to new experiences, learned some new skills, been able to spend time together in different environments, and simply have fun.

To highlight some of this fun, staying active has included traveling to the local recreation center.  Several of the girls have developed a love for volleyball and we also wisely recruited the help of Mr. Steve who happily introduced us to the ever-growing sport of pickleball.  The girls have had a great time with these sports and quickly picked up on the game rules.  A few of our other activities have included badmiton, kickball, cornhole, basketball, and aerobic type workouts.

A recent popular event was our field trip to Amicalola State Park for a picnic and hiking, followed by a stop at Burt’s Pumpkin Farm.  The girls enjoyed exploring the farm, seeing the variety of pumpkins, and of course browsing the gift shop.  Recently we went for a walk on campus as they love being outdoors, and their outing to the local public pool was a big hit on a  very hot summer day!

The girls have also been able to do some baking and creative projects.  They loved crafting bracelets with a scriptural emphasis for themselves as well as for Operation Christmas Child shoe boxes.  Christmas karaoke was also hugely popular and entertaining!  On some of the cold and rainy days, we’ve been able to challenge each other in shooting pool, playing foosball, board games, and spend some time doing devotions.

My hope is that these new endeavors are building confidence and cultivating interests that will become useful stepping stones for the girl’s future good.  There’s no doubt that we have all experienced difficulties in our lives, so it has mainly been my desire to be an encourager and a positive mentor during our time together.

If you have a desire to serve and an area of interest or skill, please consider how it can be used to become a volunteer at the Joy House.  Even a small contribution of your time and ability will have an impact and be used for eternal purpose and value.

Lastly, the Joy House is gathering quotes and information on constructing a multi-use court on campus to provide more activities for the entire residential program.  If you have any resources or expertise that may be beneficial to this, please consider how you can become an active participant in this growth and reaching out to the office with your contact information.
This fall weather we’re enjoying is delightful, and it’s got us looking forward to our annual golf tournament next month.  All proceeds go to continuing making a difference in the lives of those we serve.

There is still plenty of time to sign on as a sponsor or register a team.  You don’t want to miss it. We’ll have a Hole-in-One opportunity with a $10,000 prize available. We’ll also have a raffle for a Big Green Egg and great door prizes and competition prizes for our Putting and Chipping contest. We’ll also have bags for each of our golfers.

We’re grateful for Southeast Restoration Group who has signed on as our Presenting Sponsor. Other High-Level sponsors include DayStar Apparel, NJ Wilbanks, and Woodstock Church-Jasper.

We hope some of you will join us to Tee Up for Teens!!!

We are currently seeking a married couple for a full-time house-parenting position in our boy’s home. With the building project getting closer to completion we are excited to take this next step. No prior experience is needed, as training will be provided. Must be a mature Christian couple that has a strong desire to share Christ’s love with the teens and their families. Applicants must be married at least 3 years with no more than 2 children of their own. While modeling a Christian family, we ask the house-parents to provide care, nurturing, and structure for up to seven teen boys. They are supported by a five-person treatment team all focused on helping one another serve the teen and family in need.
