Joyful Gatherings Returning for the 2021/22 Season | View in browser
There's a lot to look forward to this season! Banjo wizard Béla Fleck kicks off the season with a cross-generational Bluegrass program, and, in February, Damien Sneed and Karen Clark Sheard will present A Tribute to Aretha Franklin.
Other feel-good highlights include an all-Beethoven program by Emanuel Ax, Leonidas Kavakos, and Yo-Yo Ma; jazz supergroup Redman, Mehldau, McBride and Blade revisiting a beloved project in A MoodSwing Reunion; and prodigy siblings Sheku and Isata Kanneh-Mason's return to the Series for an evening of timeless cello and piano sonatas.
Banjo wizard Béla Fleck brings together a cross-generational bluegrass festival highlighting the best of the best.
Throughout an iconic career spanning generations and genres, Aretha Franklin truly earned her title, “The Queen of Soul.” This performance is a heartfelt reflection upon the life and legacy of a true icon.
Three of the biggest names in music join forces for what is guaranteed to be a performance of the highest caliber, featuring an all-Beethoven program sure to highlight just how vital this historic repertoire remains in the hands of such thoughtful virtuosos.
When these jazz titans released the landmark MoodSwing album during their mid-20s, each band member was widely considered a “future star” of jazz. Now, nearly three decades later, they’re reuniting as a supergroup quartet to explore the evocative compositions and relatable musical approach that made MoodSwing a rare, instant hit.
Cellist Sheku Kanneh-Mason and pianist Isata Kanneh-Mason are two prodigiously talented siblings who are topping the classical charts in Britain and are well on their way to becoming household names. They astounded a sellout crowd at Jordan Hall in 2019, and take the stage at Symphony Hall for their triumphant return to Boston!
