Disputed ground: The future of landfill gas-to-energy; LevelTen: Wind, solar developers expect PPA prices to stay low in 2020 after tax credit roll-offs; NV Energy will utilize power shutoffs to reduce wildfire risks; Duke defends North Carolina EV pilot program after regulatory staff recommends rejection
Rob Collier, LevelTen's VP of developer relations, forecasts continued strong interest in renewable energy PPAs after the company's Q2 report and survey of utility-scale developers.
The strategy is similar to utilities' approach in California. While high winds are typically the main force behind a proactive power shutoff, NV Energy says "no single factor" will drive its decisions.
Duke frames their request as a "pilot" with associated tariffs, but is "essentially requesting pre-approval of EV infrastructure investments that would be funded by customers," utility commission staff said.
The energy landscape is rapidly changing due to the emergence of EVs, storage, resilience, and more. Utilities adapt to these changes by gathering annually to discuss new business models and implementation strategies. Join your colleagues at North America Smart Energy Week, powered by SEIA and SEPA.
