May 13, 2022 Inna Belfer, M.D., Ph.D. Pain is a complex experience that involves both the body and the brain and often coexists with other health or medical conditions. A whole person health approach to pain management represents a new paradigm in thinking and developing effective treatment strategies. It is central to our understanding of the multiple interconnected factors that influence both pain and its management. This years National Institutes of Health (NIH) Pain Consortium Annual Symposium on Advances in Pain Research will focus onPain Management Through the Lens of Whole Person Health, and it will be held virtually onWednesday, June 1 and Thursday, June 2.The symposium features an excellent program with a diverse group of speakers and panelists who will apply a whole person perspective to pain conditions along the spectrum of translational science, from the biological basis to multicomponent interventions and treatment that will ultimately improve patient outcomes. | |
