Rotarians for Family Health and AIDS Prevention delivers services to thousands in India Rotary Family Health Days is a signature program of Rotarians for Family Health and AIDS Prevention (RFHA). The program promotes disease prevention and treatment by holding a huge annual campaign in four African countries. Through the campaign, thousands of people in underprivileged communities get free health care services. Since it was started in 2011, the program has benefited more than 1.1 million people across Ghana, Nigeria, South Africa, and Uganda. In February the RFHA, with Rotarians from District 3040, expanded Rotary Family Health Days to India. Twenty-five sites in the central state of Madhya Pradesh hosted the campaign, which served an additional 70,000 people over three days. Read our interview with Alicia Michael, incoming president of Rotarians for Family Health and AIDS Prevention, on what it takes to oversee a program of this magnitude.

Duties shift for district international service chairs
| |||||
Update aims to improve projects and global grants With The Rotary Foundation Trustees’ support, the RI Board recently approved changes to the duties and qualifications of the district international service chair position, effective 1 July. By connecting clubs with local Rotarian experts, the updated position will help Rotarians to plan more effective service projects and global grants. International service chairs will build a district resource network of Rotarians, program participants, and alumni with expertise in Rotary’s areas of focus and community project planning. In collaboration with fellow district leaders and members, Rotarian Action Groups, The Rotary Foundation Cadre of Technical Advisers, and others, international service chairs will connect projects in need of guidance with local technical experts from the Rotary family and promote other resources for improving service projects and grants. By including local Rotarian expertise early in project planning and design, this effort aims to increase the quality of projects and global grants. This initiative will provide further vocational service opportunities in sectors that correspond with Rotary’s areas of focus. The effort also aims to increase friendship and cooperation among Rotarians and strengthen connections between Rotarians and Rotary alumni, such as peace fellows.
