“Beat the Heat” … Thank you to everyone who played a part in this season’s Winter Shelter Operation. Seven hundred clients in shelters was the average for the last 3 years. However, with Room In The Inn shelter closing along with additional nights of 32 and below, we saw a total of 2730 individual occurrences of clients staying with us. This is the highest number we have seen so far. We sincerely thank all those who helped with this winter project. “Beat the Heat” is the Mission’s summer program, and it is already underway. When temperatures hit 90 degrees and above, MRM takes to the streets to bring much-needed relief in the form or cold bottled water. So far, 101 cases have been collected and with temperatures already in the 90’s, 20 cases have already been distributed. Many of you helped the Mission in a big way as we participated for matching funds during Middle Tennessee’s annual Big Payback giving program. With your help, we met our match challenge. These much-needed funds will be divided between our summer operations and our upcoming capital campaign project to purchase property. Please keep us in prayer as we hope to launch the capital campaign before this year’s fall season. Thank you, Ed Grimes Executive Director |
