Background Climate change is one of the defining challenges of our time and will have profound impacts on health in the US and globally. It has the potential to affect every organ system and the manifestation of multiple diseases across the lifespan. It will alter the food supply, the distribution of disease vectors, the environment, migration of populations, and the relationships of these factors to health, including through extreme weather events and natural disasters. It will challenge the capacity of health systems and delivery of care and may have the greatest impacts on the most vulnerable populations in every country.
