First prize winner in the 2019 Vandoren Emerging Artist competition, saxophonist Rico Jones returns to his native Colorado with a stellar quartet of fellow NYC musicians, including critically acclaimed drummer Ari Hoenig and pianist Dave Kikoski.

The Denver Philharmonic Orchestra’s fifth season of DPO with a Twist launches on Lunar New Year’s Eve with a medley of chamber music sets featuring DPO musicians. The evening rises with a dynamic brass/sax/piano piece by modern composer James Stephenson. Audience favorite Voice of the Wood, a string sextet led by concertmaster Katherine Thayer, shines on Song to the Moon from Rusalka and other contemporary works featuring Kimberly Brody (principal oboe). The evening sets with the string ensemble performing a bright, new orchestration of Dvořák’s third String Quintet.

A Garland of Dawn

Dawn Clement presents her take on beloved classics made famous by the legendary Judy Garland. Selections from The Wizard of Oz and Garland’s famous concert Live at Carnegie Hall will be at the forefront of this musical appreciation. Clement is joined by a stellar cast of characters with Ryan Leppich on drums, William Kuepper on bass, and Emily Hale on vocals.
