While higher prices on flights, hotels and restaurants might affect where travelers are going and how long they’re staying, costs are not keeping people home this holiday season. Experts are expecting a record-breaking Thanksgiving week as travel has shifted from a want to a need. Nearly 80 million travelers are expected to journey over the river and through the woods, at least 50 miles or more from home this holiday. The Transportation Security Administration is predicting perhaps more than 3 million travelers passing through airport security checkpoints in one day. The busiest days are expected to be Wednesday and Sunday. Flyers beware: Gravy, cranberry sauce and jam are considered liquids and can’t be packed in your carry-on. But if you want to bring aboard a slice of pumpkin pie for the flight, go ahead. — Laura |
