When a patient diagnosed with a condition classifiable to ICD-10-CM category N40.- (benign prostatic hyperplasia) also has lower urinary tract symptoms present – such as obstruction, incontinence, hesitancy, frequency, urgency or other included conditions – assign code N40.1 (benign prostatic hyperplasia with lower urinary tract symptoms) and the associated symptoms.
