SelectCoder Tip of the Week

Cystitis indicates inflammation or infection localized to the bladder. When a urinary tract infection is specified as cystitis, assign the appropriate code from ICD-10-CM code category N30.- (cystitis). Also assign a code for the causative organism, when known. An unspecified urinary tract infection should be coded to N39.0 (other disorders of urinary system).
