When a condition classifiable to ICD-10-CM code category N26.- (unspecified contracted kidney) is present in combination with a diagnosis of hypertension, ICD-10-CM code I12.9 (hypertensive chronic kidney disease with stage 1 through stage 4 chronic kidney disease, or unspecified chronic kidney disease) should be assigned followed by the appropriate N26.- code.
