SelectCoder Tip of the Week

Amaurosis fugax, reported with ICD-10-CM code G45.3, is a sudden loss of vision in one eye related to impaired carotid blood flow and impaired retinal blood supply and is generally temporary. The condition may signal pending stroke and should not be confused with blindness. Coders should not code blindness in a patient with this condition.
