SelectCoder Tip of the Week

Cystitis indicates inflammation and/or infection localized to the bladder. When a urinary tract infection is specified as cystitis, assign the appropriate ICD-10-CM code from category N30 (cystitis). Also assign a code for the causative organism, when known. An unspecified urinary tract infection should be coded to N39.0 (urinary tract infection, site not specified).
